day 5 - tokyo

this morning we check out of our hotel, kyoto royal hotel and spa. we are heading to tokyo today. we push our luggages to the station and this time round, we cross the road to take the elevator down to the station level.

our JR Kansai pass has expired today and for our trip to tokyo, we need to get 2 single trip tickets to Tokyo. we decide on the Nozomi Shinkansen, this is from the Tokaido Shinkansen. the fare 25420yen, we left 11.02am and we arrived 1.20pm. slightly less than 2.5hrs and we only stopped at Nagoya, Shin-Yokohama, Shinagawa and finally Tokyo. its 476.3km away from Kyoto and the fastest speed is 300km/hr.

i did fall asleep in the train as it is still a long ride to Tokyo. Upon reaching Tokyo station, we make our way to our hotel in Shinjuku. we are at the Keio Plaza, its located on the western part of Shinjuku, part of the skyscraper district. we stayed on the south wing.

we din go far this evening as its was raining, we went to the nearby Keio Shopping Mall and the Odakyu mall, the shopping mall here close at 8pm. so since its a wet day and the shops close we head back to the hotel. we went to visit the guest ounge on the 34th storey where we enjoyed pastries, peanuts and of course, mummi had coke, daddi got beer and i had my water from my water bottle.
