Kor Por and me all ready to start our trip to Hakone. we had lunch at a udon restaurant at Hakone-Yumuto after we drop off our bags at the ryokan.

as it was too early to check-in, we went to discover Hakone! we took the Hakone Tozan Line - the trams up to Gora and transferred by cablecar to Owakudani the highest point- 1123m. the photos below are actually sulphur mine. the hell valley was formed before Christ by volcanic explosion.
at the Owakudani station.
at the Owakudani peak
Walking on the promenade, you can see the smoking volcano. soon it started drizzling and it got dark :( anyway, time to head back to the Ryokan as we need to be back by 6.30pm for our 7pm dinner.
our ryokan is Ichinoyu Honkan. Its 13,145yen for all 4 of us and this includes dinner and breakfast. we werent aware that today is the Emperor's birthday hence it costs more today. we only stayed a night. Doesnt our room looks nice ? its pretty big with our own bath and toilet as well. Our room overlooks the river and when we sleep at night, can hear the water rushing down. Our assigned room is called Setsugi which is located at the 2nd level.
as it was dark already, i washed up and went for a quick dip in the bath. the water wasnt as hot as the one in the public bath. i need to get ready for dinner.
all dressed up in my yellow yukata.
we went up to the 4th floor which is where the restaurant is located. at the stairs, the manager welcome us before we start our dinner. it seems each room is designated it own table. we were pleasantly impressed and surprised to find our table is next to the window overlooking the river. our table got our room name :) we were seated the food was all ready for us and i even got a high chair ready for me with my own table and Mickey bowl and fork & spoon!

there was such a wide spread of food available, we had Hakone pork shabu shabu is the main dish and it comes with vegetables and mushroom, sashimi, boiled sea bream fish with sauce and Ichinoyu Tofu is our standard dish, the appetizers and of course, must have my "pai fan, miso soup and the dessert is pear ice cream.

after dinner we went back to our room! I ate the whole bowl of rice and all the veggie and pork from the shabu shabu too! we were all so full and it was a very good dinner, the best of the whole trip :) all of us bathed and change to the yukata ! and we had fun taking photos all dressed up in our yukata!
we are to sleep in the tatami mat. and we have fun getting ready for bed. Mommy and myself helped to set up. we drank the green tea and the pastries that was provided.
